This is a painting of the Aberdein family, based on an old black and white photograph. I enjoyed the challenge of deciding what colour things might have been. The young boy on the left (who is now my father-in-law) was holding something in the photo, but it was so blurry I could not tell what it was. I decided to change it to an ambiguous round object like a ball or orange. I was worried, people in the family might get upset if I messed up on the colour of their dress or what they were holding in their hands, but as it turns out they could not really remember what they were wearing at the park that day 50 years ago, and were very pleased with the final result.
